Are you ambitious enough to go Everywhere? Not literally everywhere, but Everywhere—the ambitious, all-encompassing game from Build A Rocket Boy, the studio founded by former Rockstar developer and GTA III to V producer, Leslie Benzies. This whole interactive experience—or whatever you’d like to call it—still appears to be in beta.
It was officially unveiled back in 2023 and was initially meant to be episodic, as well as available within Everywhere. However, its first spin-off project, MindsEye, a near-future action game that essentially resembles a slightly sci-fi Grand Theft Auto, now has a release date: 10th June this year. That said, I must admit, I’m rather confused by it all. As it stands now, however, it appears you’ll be able to purchase it as a standalone title on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The game’s official website makes no mention of Everywhere, nor does its relatively sparse Steam page. One of the key selling points was that players would be able to use all of MindsEye’s assets to create their own games within Everywhere, but at this point, I have no idea whether that’s still possible.
The latest trailer introduces the city where the game takes place along with some key characters, but it’s entirely composed of cutscenes. It gives us the impression we are going to be playing in a futuristic world where machines have involved in such a way it is beyond human control. A gameplay trailer was released month prior to the official trailer and I would have to say the similarities between this game and GTA is uncanny. And yes, it has a release date, but the whole thing feels borderline vapourware.

It’s possible that publisher IO Interactive (the team behind Hitman) wanted Build A Rocket Boy to release something to start generating revenue. That’s pure speculation, though, so don’t quote me on it. Honestly, the whole thing baffles me. I wouldn’t be surprised if we soon see a lengthy statement explaining that the game has been delayed for polishing, ensuring players get the “best possible experience.”
I should also mention that there are reports of previous concerns over Everywhere’s potential use of blockchain technology, particularly as Build A Rocket Boy was actively hiring for a blockchain team. The studio insisted that Everywhere wouldn’t incorporate blockchain and that it was purely for research. I can’t see any evidence of it in MindsEye right now, but given the game’s rather mysterious and slightly off-putting nature, I’d probably hold off on pre-ordering it just yet.
