CD Projekt RED has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, arriving on 5 June 2025. The studio also revealed that the game will support cross-progression, allowing players to transfer their save data between the Switch 2 and other platforms. Some news outlets and influencers even got the chance to tryout this game at the Nintendo’s event in New York. Reportedly they all loved the ability to be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch 2.
Performance-wise, the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is targeting 1080p when docked and 720p in handheld mode, with frame rates between 30 and 40 FPS depending on the selected mode. CD Projekt RED noted that performance is still being improved, so final figures may vary slightly at launch.
While some may be surprised that a 2020 title will run at 720p on new hardware in 2025, the addition of cross-progression and portability could make this version appealing for returning players. This means whether you have been player on PC, Xbox or PlayStation, you can pick up a Switch 2 version and coming from where you left off. Besides with the latest enhancements made unto the Switch 2 alongside its small screen, the quality is still good. The port was officially confirmed during the April Nintendo Direct and serves as another sign of CD Projekt RED’s long-term support for Cyberpunk 2077.
Although the studio is now focused on The Witcher 4 and the next Cyberpunk game, known internally as Project Orion, this Switch 2 release is a final chance for fans to revisit Night City before the sequel arrives.
